What is Memory Care?

Alzheimer's & Dementia Care

 

These secure facilities are designed to provide supervision and senior care for those suffering from Alzheimer's disease or Dementia. The caregivers at Memory Care Facilities are required to receive  special senior care training and have extensive work experience to care for seniors with Alzheimer's and Dementia.  These assisted living facilities all have a security system in operation that prevents residents from wandering.

Services provided with Memory Care
  • 24-hour staffing

  • help with personal hygiene and grooming

  • dressing and clothes selection

  • showering and bathing

  • assistance with eating

  • continence management

  • medication management

  • housekeeping and laundry service

  • exercise  programs

  • social programs and activities geared for the memory impaired

Cost of Memory Care

  • Most memory care services are paid for with private funds. The average cost for memory care communities vary depending on services provided, such as: 

  • Level of care needed

  • Stage of dementia

  • Type of room ( Shared or Private)

  • Location

  • Medicare does not cover the cost of  any type of assisted living facilities and rarely does Medicaid. There may be some state programs or even federal programs, like the Veteran’s Aid and Attendance benefits that help cover the cost.
